    Smash at the O2!

On Tuesday 26 January, over 7000 children across the country gathered at the O2 Arena in London to form the World’s largest choir.

We arrived at the O2 ready for a full day of singing and dancing – it was going to be a long one! After we ate our lunch, we started a 3 hour rehearsal with the choir director David Lawrence.

The actual concert started at 7pm. As we were only five rows from the top, we had to hang our school banner up by one of the exits, but at least the parents knew roughly where we were. We sang a huge range of songs, from Madness and Gospel medleys, to TV theme tunes, and songs that encouraged us to have confidence in ourselves. We danced, jumped, cheered and sang our way through the two hour concert, maintaining enthusiasm and energy the whole time. Some of us tried to sit down, but Mrs Grabiec, Miss Burman and Mrs Knight wouldn’t let us!

Two special guests later arrived: Laura Wright and Tom Billington. Laura is a classical singer who sang the Rugby World Cup anthem and Tom is a charismatic performer who wore bright funky trousers! We also learnt how to beatbox with the Beat Box Collective and watched dance crew Urban Strides. It was an amazing experience!

After a very long day, we arrived home at gone 11pm, extremely tired! Mrs Grabiec said how proud she was of our behaviour, enthusiasm and effort throughout the entire day and that we had performed fantastically.

We had an amazing time; it was so much fun (although there was a lot of rehearsing!) and we are proud to have been part of such a huge event. Our parents were thrilled to have watched us and we’d love to do it all again!
